New York City Lockdown, Untitled 1
Soho, New York City. New York City Lockdown, Untitled 1. June 2020. During the pandemic of 2020, I wandered aimlessly along the streets of New York City as if I was inside this sleeping giant. These historical days slowly passed, its people fled, removing life from the streets, the metropolis closed, yet an intimacy was born, there were private viewings that were bathed in silence while the buildings stood tall, in our noonday sun. And as days turned into months, I returned again and again to neighborhoods where I had once lived, feeling a powerful desire to rescue, to take care of, to hold onto, to caress and ultimately to photograph, thus becoming a very tender experience. A curtain had fallen like in our nocturnal dreams, where scenes are familiar, yet different, echoing memory and knocking on the door of love.
A solo exhibition was held at Galerie Sophie Scheidecker of Paris presenting the photographs of New York City Lockdown, from March 18 - May 29, 2021.
