Trending: Prolific 'Copyright Troll' Lawyer Disbarred in NY

Prominent copyright lawyer Richard P. Liebowitz has been disbarred by the Supreme Court of the State of New York following a l years-long suspension, reports PetaPixel. Known to some as a “copyright troll,” Liebowitz had  initiated around 2,500 federal cases at the start of his disciplinary hearings in the New York District Court for the Southern District of New York. While he has been a hero to many photographers, Liebowitz has also been troublesome to the legal system itself, notes PP, in one case “knowingly making a false statement of fact or law to a tribunal.”   Read the full Story >>

See It Now: Melissa Shook's Daily Self-Portraits, 1972-1973

In 1972, photographer Melissa Shook (1939-2020)  began a personal artistic challenge, taking self-portraits every day for a year, in her own words, “to prove that I exist.” Shook undertook this conceptual exercise as she struggled with self-identity and unreliable memories, and the collective portrait that emerges conveys the vibrancy of her creative imagination, notes the Nelson-Atkins Museum, which features the exhibition “To Prove that I Exist: Melissa Shook’s Daily Self-Portraits, 1972-1973” through Aug. 8. Emad Mostaque is stepping down from his role as CEO of Stability AI, the startup behind the text-to-image generator Stable Diffusion. In a press release, StabilityAI said Mostaque is leaving the company "to pursue decentralized AI." Fortune reported that Mostaque's departure followed quarrels with investors and waves of senior staff departures.
