Books: Mark Seliger's 'Oscar Night Sessions'

For the past decade, photographer Mark Seliger has set up an elaborate pop-up studio inside the annual Vanity Fair after-party on Oscar night, producing portraits of Hollywood’s A-list personalities in the immediate afterglow of cinema’s biggest event of the year. Now a new book from Abrams, Oscar Night Sessions, brings together 200 of Seliger’s portraits, featuring Oscar winners and Hollywood power couples, from Lady Gaga and Taika Waititi to Jessica Chastain and Timothée Chalamet.   Read the full Story >>

Trending: Photographers Rush to Capture Elusive Big Sur Shot

Photographers are rushing to capture what SF Gate calls  Big Sur’s “most beautiful and elusive image” — fingers of piercing gold sunshine reaching through the rock formation called Keyhole Arch. Each year in late December and early January, Mother Nature aligns and the waning sun shines right through the hole of the arch. The serendipitous combination of sun and arch usually only lasts a few minutes. Sunset happens around 4:50 p.m. at this time of year.   Read the full Story >>

Tech News: The Afidus ATL-800 Is a Compact All-In-One Timelapse Camera

The new the Afidus ATL-800 is a purpose-built camera designed specifically for long-term timelapse photography. Capable of running for weeks unattended, it offers 4K resolution, with a 16-35mm equivalent f/1.6 lens  that provides a field of view equivalent to about a 16-35mm lens on a full-frame camera. The lens projects onto a relatively small Sony Starvis 1/2.8-inch sensor that can record video at up to 3840×2160. Video files are saved to a microSD card.
