Tech News: RED Unveils Komodo-X 6K Cine Camera

RED newly announced Komodo-X digital cinema camera bridges the gap between the existing Komodo series cameras and RED’s higher-end Raptor cinema cameras, notes PetaPixel. The camera uses a new 6K Super35 image sensor — the same size as the original Komodo 6K S35 global shutter sensor —promising improved shadow quality, better color depth, and double the supported frame rates ranging up to 6K80p and 4K120p recording options. Exhibitions: Photography and Intimacy at ICP This Summer

Conceived as a mix tape of songs gifted to a lover, the exhibition “Love Song” at the International Center of Photography (June 2 through September 11) is a group show featuring work about love and intimacy from 16 contemporary photographers, including Nobuyoshi Araki, Ergin Çavuolu, Fouad Elkoury, Aikaterini Gegisian, Nan Goldin, René Groebli, Hervé Guibert, Clifford Prince King, Leigh Ledare, Sally Mann and Collier Schorr. State of the Art: Adobe brings Firefly's Generative AI to Photoshop

Adobe’s AI tool Firefly is now coming to Photoshop, and the world will never be the same, declares DIY Photography. The new feature, called Generative Fill, will allow users to quickly extend images and add or remove objects using text prompts, notes The Verge. For now, these features will only be available in the beta version of Photoshop. Adobe is also making some of these capabilities available to Firefly beta users on the web, reports TechCrunch, adding that Firefly users have now created more than 100 million images on the service.   Read the full Story >>

Honor Roll: The 2023 CAP Prize Shortlist

The Contemporary African Photography Prize   Wednesday May 31, 2023

Twenty-five photographers have been shortlisted for the 2023 Contemporary African Photography Prize. (Among them: Nigerian photographer Neec Nonso for the series “What was Dead was Never Dead,” an evocation of ancestral legacy.) The prize is awarded annually to five photographers whose works were created in Africa, or which engage with the African diaspora.
