Marta Lamovsek is perhaps best known for her vibrant collaborations with Vivienne Westwood, but her work has also been featured in magazines such as i-D and Harper’s Bazaar, which recently talked to the photographer about the images that changed her career. Lamovsek's two-decade rise has seen her photograph diverse subjects, from royals to lorry drivers; at the heart of her practice, she says, is a desire "to capture the essence of a person, an element of their soul, and depict them with the spirit of an icon,” notes Bazaar.   Read the full Story >>

Legal Brief: Photographer Was Throw Onto Gas Canister During Protest, Lawsuit Says

A documentary photographer wearing a press badge was thrown to the ground by federal officers in July 2020 while taking photos of a fire started outside Portland’s downtown federal courthouse and suffered third-degree burns when he landed on a live gas canister that exploded underneath him, according to a lawsuit. The photographer, Rian Dundon, works with a journalism nonprofit called Economic Hardship Reporting Project. The lawsuit alleges federal officers used excessive force when they rushed up to Dundon and a group of photographers taking photos of a fire being set outside the Mark O. Now a new conflict has arisen in which armed groups are competing over the drug trade, notes The New York Times in a report featuring images from photojournalist Federico Rios.
