Mobile Photography Awards Monday March 20, 2023
The Mobile Photography Awards, which celebrate imagery made with smartphones, has announced the winners of its 2023 competition. This year’s contest drew entries from 80 countries in several categories, among them a new artificial intelligence category—an indication of where the art of photography is headed. Australian photographer Glenn Homann takes the grand prize award for a portfolio of work ranging from portraiture and architectural photography to street photography.

When you’ve experienced inequality, misogyny, sexual harassment and a complete lack of respect from men (but by no means all men) it’s easy to forget all the best bits about being a woman in photography – and there are lots of them.” So writes Hannah Rooke at Digital Camera World. Rooke notes that there “is something magical about being a woman, the way we move through life with an open heart and open mind, seeking out meaningful, loving connections.”

Love it or leave it: CNBC reports that Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat garnered the most internet searches from people looking to delete those apps over a recent six-month period. During that period, there were more than 900,000 searches for how to “delete” or “deactivate” Instagram, more than any of the country’s 30 most popular apps by downloads, according to an analysis of search trends from cybersecurity website VPNOverview. That was more than double the number of searches for deleting or deactivating Facebook, the app with the second most delete searches.
