Sandy Relief Cont’d.

The Brooklyn Artists Relief Fund writes: Flooding as high as 10' caused extensive damage to the Red Hook, Gowanus, and DUMBO areas. The damage many of the art professionals with ground floor studios and businesses have suffered will afect the whole arts community. MisterArtSee, the nation's mobile art laboratory, and the ART© group have set up an emergency relief fund for artists and art professionals who have suffered losses due to hurricane Sandy. 100% of all funds will go directly to companies and artists affected by the storm. Funds will be used directly to repair and replace needed equipment and supplies so that we can try and keep their livelihoods and services going.  Information.

The Art Dealers Association of America writes: ADAA has compiled resources for our members and the entire gallery community regardingADAA’s Relief Fund, Federal Assistance, New York City Resources, Tax Relief, Private Relief, Insurance, Conservation, Documentation, andLegal Advice and Claims Counsel. Throughout the coming weeks and months, ADAA will be here to support the arts community in every way we can. Information.

This just in from Michael Foley: On Monday, November 19th, the gallery will be hosting #Sandy, a benefit to support relief efforts for those in our area that have been most affected by Sandy. Photographer Wyatt Gallery and I have put together an amazing event—the sale of iPhone photographs, handmade digital prints by Gotham Imaging for $50 each, images by Ben Lowy, Ed Kashi, Wyatt Gallery, Stephen Wilkes, RuddyRoye, Hank Willis Thomas, Michael Christopher Brown, Craig Wetherby, Sam Horine, Stanley Lumax, Erica Simone, Nicole Sweet, Dylan Chandler, Yosra El-Essawy, Brent Bartley, Lyle Owerko, Duffy Higgins, Varenka Ruiz. This just in from photographer Lili Almog: I am organizing a supply drive for PS 329 (468 students) and PS 90 (620 students) both in the heart of Coney Island. These schools were badly damaged and have been relocated into other schools. They are in great need for real staples like paper (lined, construction, etc.), marbleized notebooks, pencils, crayons, zipper pencil cases, book covers and other related material. This just in from Casey Kelbaugh of Slideluck Potshow: Please join us from 6-10pm on Tuesday, November 20, at White Box Gallery in the Lower East Side for a benefit for the community of Red Hook, Brooklyn. We are working in collaboration with a number of fantastic organizations and companies to get this often-overlooked community back on its feet. There will be a $10-$20 required donation and raffle tickets available for all kinds of amazing prizes. Space is limited, see invitation here and secure your spot by making a donation of $10 or more here. The proceeds from this event will go to Restore Red Hook, which focuses on the small businesses affected by Hurricane Sandy and the Red Hook Initiative, which empowers youth in the Red Hook Houses - Brooklyn's largest public housing development. If you cannot attend, but would like to make a donationto this combined effort, click here.

New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) is offering free event listings to those whose events were cancelled due to Sandy. In addition, NYFA will be hosting a series of workshops on topics related to emergency recovery such as legal issues, assessing the value of your work and other insurance questions.
