Typographics 2018: Live at Cooper Union

Typographics 2018 went live on Monday, with Workshops, Tours and Demos on myriad subjects. The fourth annual Festival and Conference takes place primarily at The Cooper Union, in the East Village neighborhood of New York City. The Cooper Union is the alma mater of many notable typographers and lettering artists including Herb Lubalin, Milton Glaser, Seymour Chwast, and Lou Dorfsman. The school is home of the Type@Cooper typeface design program as well as the Herb Lubalin Study Center, an archive of modern graphic design.

The highlight of Typographics 2018 is the Conference, held on Friday and Saturday in the Great Hall. Among the subjects that will be mined for inspiration and the latest developments in the field are, in alphabetical order:
Animation, Brand identity, Calligraphy, Cartography, Environmental design, Font interpolating; Gifs; emojis; memes, Glyphs, Grid methods, Hardware controllers, Illustration; Industrial design, Infographics, Lettering, Monospaced fonts, Movable Type, Movie title graphics, Multiligual typography, Numeral design, Package design, Pinstriping, Productivity, Programming codes, Prototyping, Publication design, Python scripting, Sign writing, Signage, Typography, Type design, Variable fonts, Wayfinding, Website design. Conference speakers are listed here  Read interviews with speakers here.

 

Workshops and Tours continue through June 21st, with continual updates online.
