Evidence from the recently published 2026 Digital News Report from Oxford’s Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism suggests that the public’s appetite for news video is growing, driven by platforms like TikTok. And, notes Nieman Lab, it’s not only short-form video that’s in demand. But the interest in video varies by region: In Asia, almost half (47%) of people surveyed say they watch news videos on YouTube weekly, compared to just a quarter (24%) of people in Europe. A new survey of 2,000 American adults who have recently traveled or are currently planning a trip found that when shown three pairs of real and AI-generated destination photographs, just one in four correctly identified the authentic image on any given test. Only 5% of those surveyed could correctly identify real destination photos in a side-by-side test with AI-generated images — yet 74% say they wouldn’t book a trip without seeing photos first, notes the New York Post. The designer Elsa Schiaparelli (1890-1973) was perhaps the first designer “to fully grasp how the camera could extend and refine the visual language of couture,” explains Aperture. The exhibition “Schiaparelli: Fashion Become Art” at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum (through Nov. 8) celebrates the influence of Schiaparelli, who launched Maison Schiaparelli in Paris in 1927, and traces the fashion house’s evolution.
