Crime Blotter: Videographer Killed While Returning Camera to His Car After Event

Twenty-year-old videographer Jaelen McCormick was shot and killed as he put his camera back into the backseat of his car after doing a job a nightclub in Charlotte, North Carolina on July 7, notes PetaPixel. WCNC Charlotte reports that police officers were already at the club responding to an earlier fight call at the club, when they heard gunshots outside around 12:45 am. Keytavious Lewis, 18, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the shooting McCormick.   Read the full Story >>

Books: A Fictional Women's Soccer Team from the 1970s

London-based photographer Barley Nimmo’s book Honeyball tells the story of a fictitious female team founded in London just after the English Football Association lifted the ban on women’s football in 1971, ending a restriction that had been in place since 1921. The work, notes Colossal, captures the styles of 70s photography and the fashion and community of female footy. Media Watch: Roxanne Behr to Join New York Magazine As Creative Director, Photography

New York magazine editor-in-chief David Haskell has announced that Roxanne Behr is joining the magazine as creative director, photography. She will oversee the publication’s visual storytelling. Behr begins her role on August 10 and will work alongside Chris Dixon, who recently joined the magazine as creative director, design. Behr began her career at New York, where she worked from 2010 to 2018, ending her tenure as senior photo editor. She went on to become the global creative director at GQ.    Read the full Story >>

Honor Roll: The 2026 International Aerial Photographer of the Year

Bangladeshi photographer Azim Khan Ronnie, a much-awarded drone image maker,  is the top winner of the 2026 International Aerial Photographer of the Year contest for a four-image portfolio spanning Switzerland, India, and Bangladesh. His winning photos capture a rower gliding across Lake Zurich, crowds gathering alongside birds at Delhi’s Yamuna Ghat, vivid red chili peppers drying in Bogura, and the Rakher Upobash ritual in Dhaka, notes My Modern Met.
