Reports suggest that Axcel, the Nordic private equity firm that has owned Capture One since 2019, is working to sell the photography software company via auction. In January, global credit intelligence and data firm Octus reported that Axcel was proceeding with its auction sale of Capture One. After Axcel bought Phase One, which included Capture One, in 2019, the private equity firm split the two businesses into separate entities. Photojournalist Carol Guzy has won four Pulitzer Prizes covering disaster and war around the world. But for much of the past 11 months, she has been documenting arrests during the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown. The project began when Guzy, a former Washington Post photographer, traveled from D.C, to New York to visit friends, notes CNN. While there, she decided to stop by a federal building in Manhattan, where she’d heard ICE agents were arresting people outside their immigration court hearings. Read the full Story >>

Artist and educator Tori Purcell has been named the new chair of the Department of Photography within Pratt Institute’s School of Art. She will assume the role on July 1. Purcell, who has served as assistant chair of the photography department at Pratt for the past 16 years, succeeds Shannon Ebner, who is stepping down to join Pratt’s faculty. This fall, Pratt will lead the launch of an new curriculum called Being with Photography, which reimagines the first-year photographic experience, bringing together hybrid technologies in a community-oriented learning environment, notes the school.
