This year's World Photography Awards  drew nearly 9,000 entries from more than 50 countries. The winners have now been announced, with the top spot going to British photographer Jo Kearney for a photo of a solitary woman eating in the canteen of the Khoja Obi Garm sanatorium in the mountains of Tajikistan. Lux Camera, the company behind the Halide camera app for iPhones, has announced Halide Mark III, the third generation of the popular app. The new version includes several upgrades and new features outlined by 9 to 5 Mac. including, notes DP Review, the ability to process Raw files from several popular camera brands.The company also teamed up with a Hollywood colorist to build a custom photo processing pipeline designed around the specific dynamic range and color gamut of the iPhone camera. Exhibitions: Sheila Metzner + Lillian Bassman in Paris

A new exhibition at La Galerie Rouge in Paris pairs the work of Sheila Metzner with those of Lillian Bassman — two photographers working decades apart whose painterly images, notes AnOther, were shaped as much in the darkroom as behind the camera. The exhibition, “C’est Chic,” runs through September 19. “I learned how to print from reading books by photographers who described the chemicals they used. State of the Art: Hackers Say Meta AI Helped Them Compromise Instagram Accounts

Meta's AI support chatbot can be tricked into providing unauthorized users with login access to any Instagram account, notes Mashable. Hackers say they weaponized an exploit that tricked Meta's AI support chatbot into simply handing over account access. Recently, a number of highly followed Instagram accounts were hacked. The Obama White House Instagram account, with 2.4 million followers, was compromised and posted a caption that stated: "The White House is under Shiites' control.”   Read the full Story >>
