On September 18, Aperture will open the doors to a permanent home at 380 Columbus Avenue in New York City. The new location on the first two floors of a historic building on the Upper West Side will feature a calendar of talks and events, starting with “Aperture Loves New York,” an exhibition highlighting iconic NYC photos alongside beloved Aperture books, from landmark titles by Diane Arbus, Robert Frank, Nan Goldin, and Stephen Shore to more recent favorites featuring Justine Kurland, Deana Lawson, and Tyler Mitchell. Associated Press photographer Emilio Morenatti captured a emotional moment during Pope Leo XIV’s recent trip to Spain. Morenatti’s photo, showing the pontiff blessing a boy before a prayer vigil at Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium in Barcelona, went viral and, notes the AP, set off a search by internet sleuths for the boy’s parents, who believed they had witnessed a miracle and likewise were trying to find Morenatti. “In photojournalism, a photograph should do more than document an event. Insta360 has officially launched the Luna Ultra, a dual-lens handheld gimbal camera co-engineered with Leica. The Luna Ultra, notes Mashable, is a director competitor to DJI’s upcoming Osmo Pocket 4P. The Luna Ultra will have a Leica Summicron lens with a 1-inch sensor, as well as a telephoto lens with a 1/1.3-inch sensor. With 6x lossless zoom and 12x zoom in total, the camera will offer a maximum video resolution of 8K at 30fps, and be able to record 1080p 240fps slow motion as well as 4K timelapse footage at 30fps.
