A would-be wedding photographer in Scotland has upset professional wedding photographers their by offering couples £250 (US$330) to photograph their nuptials in order to build up his portfolio. The man, going by the name Ja Vier, made his offer in a post on the public Facebook group The Scottish Wedding Group. The post almost exclusively received “laugh emoji” reactions – but not everyone reading it was amused, notes Digital Camera World. “Is this a joke post?!!!!" asked wedding photographer David Knowles of Black Dog Wedding Photography. Artists are banding together to sell more than $1 million in art at Sotheby’s on May 15, with all the funds going toward Yale University’s MFA art program, among the most esteemed of its kind in the country. All of the works will appear in a contemporary art day sale during the marquee auctions. The most expensive work being offered, a 2005 Richard Prince photograph of a clothed, adult Brooke Shields from his “Spiritual America” series, has a $500,000–$700,000 estimate, notes Art News. We noted recently that photojournalist Lynsey Addario is included in this year’s edition of Time magazine’s annual list of 100 Most Influential People. Digital Camera World points out that Fujifilm has made Time’s list of 100 Most Influential Companies of 2026 because of an analog product in the age of AI: “Fujifilm’s Instax cameras look quaint by comparison—and that’s the point. The company's most recognizable consumer product is surging with the under-30 crowd, who frequently use colorful Instax cameras to capture weddings, concerts, and other moments worth holding on to,” notes the magazine. Photography flourishes in the UK capital this spring, with the Photo London art fair (May 14-17) spearheading a calendar of events, notes the British Journal of Photography. There is also the Peckham 24 festival of contemporary photography (May 15-17) and the Offprint London book fair produced by LUMA Arles (May 15-17). In addition, WePresent is organizing “On Belonging” in Peckham’s Copeland Gallery (May 7-10), an event featuring exhibitions by artists such as Chad Mclean, Hidhir Badaruddin, Silvia Draz, and Julien Rahmani.
