In 2020, after five years at Vox, journalist Johnny Harris left to start his own YouTube channel. Today, the channel he built with his wife Iz, featuring “videos that help you better understand the world,” has more than 7.5 million subscribers. Now, notes Nieman Lab, they are using what they’ve learned to build a business that helps other creator-journalists. Photographer Paul Hobson is the grand prize winner of the 2026 British Wildlife Photography Awards for his black-and-white photo of a toad swimming in a pond n Sheffield, England. What make the image unique is its perspective—Hobson shot it from below, placing his camera in a homemade glass box and submerging it in the pond. He operated the shutter with an adapted long cable release. “I am lucky to have a pond close to my house that has relatively clear water,” Hobson notes. Read the full Story >>

Are you shooting with film, but wouldn’t mind having a digital fallback? An innovative new cube camera could be the answer, notes PetaPixel. The Ligar by Escura fits onto any film camera with a hotshoe and takes a photo when the shutter is released—and apparently this is something people want, because crowdfunding for the camera on Kickstarter raised $24,000, far more than its initial $5,000 goal.
