Sony’s long-awaited mid-range flagship mirrorless camera, the a7 V, has officially been launched, four years after its predecessor, the a7 IV. The new model sports a 33MP partially stacked full-frame Exmor RS sensor and an all-new Bionz XR2 processor with built-in AI, powering what the company calls its fastest, most accurate subject-detect autofocus ever. At the same time, notes Engadget, it can shoot 14-bit photos at up to 30 fps with 16 stops of dynamic range, the highest ever on a Sony (or nearly any other) camera. Read the full Story >>

FPV drone pilot Luke Bredar teamed up with professional storm chaser Ricky Forbes to capture a rarely seen sight: a drone’s-eye view of a tornado, and the result has been getting attention across the internet. The pair managed to fly a GoPro camera into a tornado in Oklahoma last May. This unprecedented footage shows the raw power, structure, and rotation of a twister like never before, pushing the limits of FPV drone technology and human courage., notes the GoPro YouTube channel. An enormous tranche of negatives from Marilyn Monroe's famous last photo shoot with photographer Bert Stern is set to be auctioned off on Nov. 8, but Stern's widow is now trying to stop the sale, claiming the iconic images were stolen by organized crime and later used in an attempt to extort $3 million from her. Shannah Laumeister Stern, who in 2009 secretly married Bert Stern, says roughly 2,500 negatives of Stern’s “Last Sitting” with Monroe went missing “in the middle of the night” from Stern’s apartment, notes the Independent.

The winners of the 2025 Nature inFocus photo contest were announced on November 15 at the Nature inFocus festival in Bengaluru, India. This year’s edition of the competition drew nearly 16,000 images from more than 1,250 photographers in more than 38 countries. Among the photographers honored: Amit Eshel, whose image “Ancient Rivals” features an Arctic wolf whose blood-marked face shows shows signs of a recent hunt, as a muskox herd forms a defensive circle.
