A 34-year-old man was fatally attacked by two polar bears on a remote island in Canada after he went outside to photograph them, notes People. Christopher Best told his family there was no reason to fear after they learned he’d been taking photographs of polar bears while working at a radar site on Brevoort Island. After he finished his shift on Aug. 8, he learned that a bear was outside and left the facility with his camera, but was unaware that a second bear was nearby.   Read the full Story >>

Trending: Astrophotographer Captures Skydiver 'Falling' Past the Sun

Arizona-based astrophotographer Andrew McCarthy is known for his spectacular photos of the sun. But he may have recently topped himself, notes LiveScience, with a shot of a falling skydiver perfectly aligned with the sun's fiery surface. Dubbed "The Fall of Icarus," the photo required an "absolutely preposterous" level of planning and "might be the first photo of its kind in existence," noted McCarthy at X. Legal Brief: Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Wins Infringement Lawsuit Over Van Halen Photo

A federal judge has rejected a lawsuit claiming the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame broke the law by using a copyrighted photo of Eddie Van Halen in a museum exhibit, notes Billboard. Photographer Neil Zlozower  sued in October 2024 alleging that the museum used his copyrighted photo of Van Halen in a recording studio in the late 1970s as part of an eight-foot-tall display about famous guitars, adds PetaPixel. Zlozower claimed the museum neither licensed the photo nor provided credit or a source when exhibiting the image. Judge Christopher A. Boyko ruled that the museum’s use of the photograph qualified as “fair use” under copyright law.   Read the full Story >>
