Don Pettit may be the greatest photographer in Zero-G: The NASA astronaut recently returned to the International Space Station for his fourth mission, bringing along a homemade orbital sidereal tracker—a device to stabilize cameras, compensating for the rotation of the ISS as it orbits. Using this device and other photo gear, Pettit and his orbiting colleagues have been able to take stunning low-light photographs of city lights, auroras and more, notes The Atlantic, which features night images from the ISS taken over the past few months.   Read the full Story >>

State of the Art: Adobe's Sora-Rivaling AI Video Generator is Now Available for Everyone

Adobe’s text- and image-to-video AI generator has been released in beta for anyone to try online, notes The Verge.  Unveiled last year, the Firefly Video Model can be accessed via the re-designed Firefly web app, alongside new image-generation and translation capabilities and AI credit subscription tiers for creators. Legal Brief: Thompson Reuters Wins Early AI Copyright Case in the US

Thomson Reuters has won an early court battle over the question of fair use in artificial intelligence-related copyright cases, notes Associated Press. The media and technology company filed a lawsuit against Ross Intelligence — a now-defunct legal research firm — in 2020, arguing they had used materials from Thomson Reuters’ own legal platform Westlaw to train an AI model without permission. US District Court of Delaware judge Stephanos Bibas issued a partial summary judgment in favor of Thomson Reuters on Tuesday, reports The Verge.   Read the full Story >>
