Nikon’s newly announced Nikkor Z 35mm F1.2 S lens is an interesting option for photographers who want shallow depth of field, but still want to capture the environment around a subject – something that's not as easy with the company's 50mm and 85mm F1.2 options, notes DP Review, which calls the lens “super bright” and “kinda wide.” The company is pitching the lens at people who shoot weddings, events and fashion, as well as video. At $2,799.95, the high-end lens does not come cheap, adds PetaPixel.

A Canadian in the US on a vistor’s visa is facing federal charges after allegedly photographing classified areas at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station using a drone over three consecutive days, notes the Miami Herald. Xiao Guang Pan, 71, flew a drone over the Space Force Station and photographed “vital” areas of the facility, prosecutors said. Pan captured images of Space Launch complexes, military weapons bunkers, a payload processing facility and a submarine wharf, according to prosecutors.

Award-winning sports photographer James Crombie says he knew “very, very little” about the murmurations of starlings before Covid-19 struck, but with little else to do during the pandemic he began photographing the birds at a lake near his home. “It started to become a bit of an obsession,” says Crombie, who recently published a bookof his starling images. After 50 nights at the lake, Crombie captured a remarkable sight: a flock of starlings that seemed to form the shape of a gigantic bird. “I knew, once I clicked it, that I had it,” Crombie tells CNN.
