Gian Paolo Barbieri, a groundbreaking fashion photographer who shot the first Vogue Italia cover, died on Dec. 17 at age 89, notes WWD. Tis the season for lists of top photos of the year. We like the spin Reuters has put on theirs, with photographers telling the stories behind their images. Among them is Brendan McDermid, who describes the photo he made in July after a would-be assassin fired on Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, “I just tried to stay concentrated on what was going on on the stage,” he notes. “When the Secret Service got Trump back on his feet, he raised his fist. Tech News: Top Rented Photo and Video Products of 2024

“While we love the weird and obscure lenses and cameras, ultimately, what will usually beat out everything else is the practical. Canon won the race once again this year, taking over a significant portion of the top 10 rentals.” So notes Lensrentals, which has published its annual list of most-rented photo and video products from the past year. Topping the list: the Canon Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L II—an EF mount lens, which notably beat out its RF counterparts by “100 or so orders.” The most rented camera this year was the Canon EOS R5, followed by the Canon EOS R6 Mark II. Sony made the list with the a7S III,  but was still beaten out by the Canon 5D Mark IV — a camera released in 2016.   Read the full Story >>
