The U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to hear oral arguments concerning whether a bill forcing a TikTok sale violates the First Amendment. Experts suggest that SCOTUS agreeing to hear the case is a win for TikTok, especially as President-elect Donald Trump has repeatedly flip-flopped on whether he would step in to save the social media company’s presence in the United States. Since his election this year, Trump has publicly opposed a TikTok ban and met with TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew at Mar-a-Lago in Florida recently, notes PetaPixel. Trump will be inaugurated on January 20, 2025, one day after the TikTok sale-or-ban bill is set to take effect.

Summer Wagner creates art that feels similarly otherworldly and familiar – both nostalgic and (at times) unnerving, notes It’s Nice That. “I like to capture real people and real places subtly making them feel surreal, like a landscape in a daydream,” says the Los Angeles-based fine-art photographer and film director. Wagner draws on literature for inspiration—she names Virginia Woolf novels and Ursula K LeGuin essays as key influences, in addition to sculpture by Meg Webster and Michael Heizer and paintings by Aaron Wisenfield and Salman Toor.

While volunteering for an organization working with the unhoused, Dutch photographer Tony Doekal encountered people who live on the margins of society – either by necessity or choice – and began to question the pursuits of success and the value of the American dream. The images in her new book The Color of Money and Trees (published by Void) were made during several visits to Arizona and California over a six-year period. The book takes the form of a diaristic fable and the photographs are interspersed with Doekal’s diary entries, notes The Guardian.

Adobe has announced a new Reflection Removal tool that will erase reflections in photos, showing only what's behind them. The company says it's meant to improve photos taken through windows or ones of reflective objects like movie posters.The tool doesn't use generative AI that guesses what's supposed to be there and then tries to create it whole-cloth, so you don't have to worry about it adding things that weren't actually there, notes DP Review.
