Coming hot on the heels of the release of the flagship GoPro Hero13 Black, DJI has unveiled its own action cam, the Osmo Action 5 Pro. The new camera can record 4:3 4K at 120fps—something the Action 4 could only achieve at 16:9, notes DP Review. DJI says the camera has “excellent low-light performance,” with the ability to shoot up to 4K 60fps in low light. A separate 'SuperNight' mode shoots up to 4K/30 footage at 16:9. The company says the mode uses “AI noise reduction algorithms” to “overcome the darkness in extremely low-light environments.”

International Photography Awards Friday September 27, 2024
The winners of the 21st edition of the International Photography Awards have been announced, and, declares My Modern Met, “the images are among the most memorable in the history of the contest.” The contest features 11 categories in both Professional and Amateur divisions ranging from advertising and architecture to editorial and nature work, along with wards for books and analog photography. Among the winners: Camilla Rutherford, who took first place in the Editorial/Press/Contemporary Issue category for images of waste landfills in New Zealand.

After nearly a year of research, workshops, and an endorsement campaign, the Archival Producers Alliance, a volunteer group of more than 300 documentary filmmakers, has released new generative AI guidelines, laying out ethical considerations for archival producers who use generative AI, but also for other filmmakers, studios, broadcasters, and streamers. The guidelines “put audience transparency first, notes Nieman Lab, with several specific recommendations for filmmakers, like content labels and asset tracking.
