Celebrated German fashion photographer Ellen von Unwerth is known for her gleeful images of women unapologetically being themselves and having fun in front of the camera, notes the Los Angeles Times, which recently hosted a conversation between von Unwerth and her daughter Rebecca Fourteau, a New York-based filmmaker who has collaborated with her mother on shoots since she was a child. “I just love to see women being powerful and oozing femininity and oozing their personality,” von Unwerth says.

Revered photographer Alec Soth has shot newlyweds visiting Niagara Falls, monks and survivalists holed up in remote mountain cabins, and the residents of fading American small towns. But for his newest project Soth spent two years traveling across America to capture undergraduates studying art at 25 universities. The result is his latest book, Advice for Young Artists. The book “is a mix of bittersweet longing, melancholy and wry observations, from the perspective of an aging artist in pursuit of his fabled mojo,” notes The Guardian.
