Wine producers and military colleagues are paying tribute to Captain Arsen Fedosenko, who died while working as a photographer for the Ukrainian armed forces’ strategic communications department. Fedosenko was killed by a Russian glide bomb on June 10, notes the CBC. For more than two decades, Fedosenko was closely connected to Ukraine’s wine sector, earning plaudits for his imagery charting the country’s winemakers and vineyards, notes Decanter. "More and more of my friends are dying," said Hanna Bondar, one of Fedosenko's friends.

Toys “R” Us is proving artificial intelligence could have a future in film, notes CNN: The retail toy brand premiered a short promo film at the 2024 Cannes Lions Festival in France that was created almost entirely by using OpenAI’s new text-to-video tool. The company’s entertainment studio partnered with creative agency Native Foreign, which had early access to Sora. Toys “R” Us said it believes it is the first brand to debut a film using the technology. The tool is not yet publicly available.

Los Angeles police are asking for the public’s help to locate witnesses and potential victims in the case of a Hollywood photographer charged with sexually assaulting three young men aspiring to be models, notes the Los Angeles Times. William Isaac Thomas Jr., 49, presented himself as an industry expert to young men and then, after they hired him as their agent, “forced them to submit to sexual assault under duress,” according to an LAPD statement. The district attorney’s office charged Thomas in May with a half-dozen felonies, including sodomy, in connection with three men, who were between the ages of 18 and 20 at the time.

Having just unveiled its new Nikon Z6 III camera, Nikon has announced the Nikkor Z 35mm f/1.4, the company’s first f/1.4 lens for the Z-mount mirrorless system: Until now most of the company's prime lenses have been f/1.2, f/1.8 or f/2.8. Interestingly, notes DP Review, the Z 35mm lens is not part of the company's premium 'S' line and is priced lower than the 35mm f/1.8 S, coming to market with a recommended price of $599. The lens uses a stepper motor to drive its autofocus, as most Z-mount lenses do, and includes a customizable control ring.
