Astrophotography: Aim for the Perseid Meteor Shower

The 2024 Perseid meteor shower is now getting underway and will continue until about August 24, with a peak on August 12 and 13. The moon will be a first quarter and 50-percent illuminated during the peak, so the best time to watch for the big show will be from around midnight until dawn, notes EarthSky. Tech News: New $999 Sony ZV-E10 II Realizes the Promise of its Predecessor

Aimed at content creators and vloggers, Sony’s new ZV-E10 II camera bests its predecessor with a new sensor, a larger battery, and improved video specs, notes DP Review. That predecessor, the Sony ZV-E10, was launched in 2021 and has been a popular model for Sony and one of the best-selling interchangeable lens cameras on the market. But, adds PetaPixel, it ultimately never lived up to its potential due to shortcomings including lack of 4K/60p recording.
