incredibly elusive, the Bornean clouded leopard is rarely seen in person or captured by cameras on their native island of Indonensian Borneo. But, notes My Modern Met, a new video from a camera trap in Tanjung Puting National Park is the first to capture a family of the agile nocturnal predators. The video was announced by the Orangutan Foundation and Tanjung Puting National Park, who are careful to keep tabs on the exceptional creatures within the park. On April 9, a camera deep in the forest captured a mother leopard with two cubs.

Nikon has launched Nikon Imaging Cloud, a free cloud service that offers camera-to-cloud transfer and image storage. Currently, the service is a free but compatible only with the new Nikon Z6 III, notes PetaPixel. Beyond image transfer and firmware update features, the Nikon Imaging Cloud enables users to recreate their favorite film stock and experiment with a library of photo-editing “recipes” from Nikon Creators, adds Digital Camera World. Up to 9 recipes can be uploaded directly from the cloud to a Nikon camera, providing endless creative freedom and experimentation.

“The first thing Samar Abu Elouf does before photographing a dead child is to make sure it isn’t one of her own,” notes CNN in a profile of the photojournalist. As we noted earlier this year, Abu Elouf’s harrowing work documenting death and destruction in Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023, earned her this year’s Anja Niedringhaus Courage In Photojournalism Award and a George Polk Award. “Taking pictures of corpses hurts me the most,” she says. “One of the worst was a photo of 170 dead bodies, all piled on top of each other.”

Schaus is a documentary photographer who collaborates with individuals and organizations engaged in social change—her work often focuses on women’s empowerment.
