At least 11 journalists — nine Palestinian, one Lebanese and one Israeli — have confirmed dead, reported The New York Times on Friday, citing information from the Committee to Protect Journalists. At least one Israeli journalist had been reported missing, and many others have been injured. On Friday, a Reuters videographer, Issam Abdalla, was killed and at least six other journalists were injured amid shelling in Lebanon, according to the committee. Sherif Mansour, coordinator for the Middle East at the Committee to Protect Journalists, said journalists in Gaza were trying to get information out while also scrambling to evacuate and protect their families.

Dutch photographer Carlijn Jacobs bends and warps her models’ bodies to surreal effect, and her images invite viewers into an imaginative, alternate world, notes AnOther, which spotlights the first solo exhibition of Jacobs’s work (at Foam in Amsterdam through Jan. 21, 2024. ”I stage things. I think the imagination makes it more fun,” says Jacobs. “I celebrate transformation; that’s something I do in my work a lot. If I shoot a model, I want to transform her and create something that’s not there yet.”
