Adobe owes a software company nearly $33.8 million for infringing a patent that covers a system for controlling access to digital content, a jury in Delaware federal court ruled on Sept. 27. The jury agreed with ViaTech Technologies that Adobe's technology for activating licensed copies of software like Acrobat and Photoshop violates ViaTech's patent rights, notes Reuters.ViaTech said in its 2019 lawsuit that its eLicense software has been used by companies to protect their content from unlicensed users and accused Adobe's software activation technology of infringing one of its patents.

In Ukraine’s southern Zaporizhzhia region, about 25 kilometers from front-line battles in Russia’s ongoing invasion of the country, a group of Ukrainian volunteer veterinarians from Kyiv recently traveled to the village of Tavriyske to do checkups and treat injured or sick animals. One, which has been viewed more than one million times on X/Twitter, shows a Hamas gunman firing his assault rifle at a car full of Israeli civilians. The posts take advantage of the lack of content moderation on some social media sites — particularly X and Telegram, adds The Times. Meanwhile, Wired declares that the Israel-Hamas war is “drowning in disinformation" on Elon Musk’s social platform.
