Benro’s newly announced CyanBird carbon fiber travel tripod takes some noticeable inspiration from the Peak Design Travel Tripod, but at a significantly lower price point. notes DIY Photography. The CyanBird features blue anodised aluminium components with satin aluminium leg lock levers. The legs are arched shape, allowing them to fold up to a diameter of only 6cm. (The tripod weighs less than 2.25 lbs.) The Benro N00P double-action ball head on top of the tripod accepts the standard Arca Swiss-compatible tripod plates.

The underwater camera market is set to have an approximate market value of $6 billion—and the valuation is expected to hit close to $13.3 billion at the turn of the next decade, notes The Phoblographer, which looks at the rise of what it calls a “very specialized genre of photography.” With the easing of Covid-19 pandemic restrictions, holiday resorts have resumed operations, fueling a global interest in adventure tourism and underwater sports. Social media also is playing a part in the growth of underwater photography.

A new online exhibition at the Xavier Hufkens Gallery looks at how Robert Mapplethorpe deployed clothing in his photographs—often, notes AnOther, to erotic effect. Mapplethorpe was introduced to fashion photography by the retailer Dianne Benson, who commissioned him to produce advertisement for her SoHo boutique in 1980. The writer Charlie Porter, author of What Artists Wearand the curator of this show, suggests Mapplethorpe treated clothing like a "tool" to understand his subjects better.
