Registration is now open for the 18th Palm Springs Photo Festival Workshop Program, which will take place this year from October 9 to 13 at the Margaritaville Resort Palm Springs. Workshop programs include "Duane Michals: On Being"; "Nadev Kander: Process & Practice"; "Cheryl Walsh: Shooting People Underwater"; "Barbara Davidson: Documentary & Photojournalism"; and "Stephen Wilkes: Creative a Cohesive Fine Art Body of Work."

A photographer who paid $50,000 to an agency that promised to drastically grow her business by, among other things, providing 100,000 Instagram followers, has sued after allegedly seeing no uptick in business. The photographer, Aliyah Dastour, is suing Monopolize, a marketing agency, to retrieve the money she gave them for its “Done for You” package, which was supposed to grow her photo business “exponentially.” Dastour later raised concerns that the 100,000 Instagram followers she had received were fake accounts or “bots,” notes PetaPixel.

Dating to 711 AD, bullfighting has central place in Spanish culture, but opinions are split over the relevance of the blood sport in the modern world, notes Creative Boom, which features photographer Owen Harvey’s series “Matador.” The work examines the lives of several generations of bullfighters and the wider culture of machismo. "Bullfighting lends itself to photography very well as it is an extremely visual subject, but more importantly, it holds those themes that I'm interested in exploring,” says Harvey.
