Ukrainian photographer Denis Krivoy has been killed in fighting there, reports the Institute of Mass Information (IMI), a non-profit group of Ukrainian and other journalists. Krivoy, a nature photographer whose work had been previously published in National Geographic, decided to fight for his homeland after Russia’s invasion last year. His wife Halyna Volhina also reported Krivoy’s death on Instagram, noting that he died in the city of Bakhmut, “trying to save his wounded comrades.” See also: PetaPixel. Read the full Story >>

A video maker known as Lotrfan has created what he calls the world’s first talking timelapse, notes Laughing Squid. Shot over most of a year, the video shows him speaking a sentence while his hair grows longer. A clever bit of digital and software manipulation allowed him to carry a single message through all of the frames. At the end of his YouTube video, he explains how he made the talking timelapse, adds PetaPixel: “I took a photo of myself every day for 285 days and lined them up with a pre-existing video of me talking.”
