Amazon is shutting down Seattle-based DP Review, a leading online source for news and reviews about digital cameras and photography, notes GeekWire. The site will be completely shut down as of April 10. The move comes as part of Amazon’s annual operating plan review, which includes company-wide layoffs of up to 18,000 people, adds The Register. Started in 1998 as a “hobby site,” DP Review grew into a go-to source for digital gear information. It attracted the attention of Amazon founder and then-CEO Jeff Bezos, whose company acquired DP Review in May 2007.

With Donald Trump facing possible indictment over hush money paid to a porn star, Eliot Higgins of the open-source investigative journalism website Bellingcat used the new version of Midjourney to create photorealistic scenes of the arrest of the former president. The images became a viral sensation, calling attention to AI's growing disruptive power, noted The Washington Post. But Higgins now tells BuzzFeed that as a result he has been banned him from using the AI text-to-image art generator.

While attempting to get a close-up of a python while out on a walk in Queensland, Australia., photographer Joey Zayne was “savagely attacked” by the snake and left bloodied, reports PetaPixel. “I didn’t see it coming. It was crazy,” Zayne explains. “I had no idea that it was that close to my face and then I started bleeding profusely.” Australian news outlets noted that Zane’s actions have been criticized by snake handlers who said the reptiles do not attack or bite for no reason. But, says Zane, “I didn’t do a Steve Irwin.” Basically, snakes are best left alone, adds PP.
