Photographers and other artists have become increasingly worried about AI image generators stealing their work and spitting it out as its own—and now, notes DIY Photography, there may be a remedy at hand: Scientists from Chicago University have developed a sort of AI invisibility cloak that will make your images unable to be sampled by the image generators. The software is called Glaze and “cloaks” the images so that models incorrectly learn the unique features that define an artist’s style.

Sachi Cunningham doesn’t sit in a boat when she photographs Mavericks, the iconic big-wave surf break 25 miles south of San Francisco. She swims, facing icy water, violent currents, sharks and numerous bodies on 10-foot surfboards jockeying to catch waves that can grow up to 50 feet. “You don’t want to get the same shots as everyone else on the boat,” she tells The New York Times. “That’s why I swim — or one of the reasons, anyway.” Since 2014, she has been working on a documentary film about female big-wave surfers.

According to a report from the Camera & Imaging Products Association (CIPA), average camera prices doubled in 3 years and increased 6 times in 10 years. The average unit price of digital cameras in the world in 2022 more than doubled in three years compared to before the new coronavirus disaster, noted the report. Compared to about 10 years ago, when camera manufacturers began to shift their main products to high-end models, the average unit price has risen six times, notes Photo Rumors.

For more than two years, Instagram has been rebranding itself as a video platform, pushing its short-form video format Reels in an effort to expand beyond its roots as a photo-sharing app and compete with TikTok. More recently, Instagram has pivoted again to correct an overfocus on video, and that seems to have had an effect: Reels view have been performing worse, generating 20 percent fewer views for some brand accounts, while photo performance has generally improved, reports Adweek.
