Trending: New Rules Make It Easier for Recreational Drones in Restricted Areas

Until recently, flying in controlled airspace at night was off limits to someone operating a drone recreationally, but now, reports DP Review, the Federal Aviation Administration has eased these restrictions. The FAA  announced that recreational drone pilots, also known as hobbyists, are now able to request permission for night time flight in controlled airspace. The policy went into effect February 20. DPR calls it a “huge step” for recreational pilots, who could previously only request such approval during daylight hours.   Read the full Story >>

Spotlight: Capturing Rare Rainbow Clouds in Iceland

Professionally, Jónína Guðrún Óskarsdóttir works as the head nurse at a small healthcare center. In her spare time, she loves photographing her surroundings on the eastern coast of Iceland, where, notes My Modern Met, she was able to capture the rare appearance of rainbow clouds—polar stratospheric clouds that paint the sky with different colored stripes.
