Call for Applications: The 2023 American Aftermath Grant Cycle Is Now Open

The Aftermath Project is now accepting applications for the 2023 edition of its 1492/1619 American Aftermaths grant. The grant supports work that, notes the organization, “is open to wide interpretation of America’s original sins – the 1492 ‘discovery’ of this land by Christopher Columbus and the assault on indigenous peoples and their cultures which followed.” The Aftermath Project works from an understanding "that unresolved conflicts – including those where actual conflict itself has stopped (ie, the Civil War)—continue to have an impact across generations," notes the org.   Read the full Story >>

Tech News: Fujifilm is Increasing the Price of Photo Paper and Chemicals by 15%

Fujifilm has announced that it is updating its pricing for consumable photographic products, namely some of its Crystal Archive color paper, photo chemicals, and more. The company says that global pricing for these products is increasing but will vary from region to region. For the United States, it means a 15 percent increase, notes PetaPixel. These increase in prices join an earlier increase in film prices for dealers that was upwards of 60 percent in some regions, but 25 percent for the United States.   Read the full Story >>

Exhibitions: Four Stories from Harry Benson

Scottish born photojournalist Harry Benson CBE came to America with The Beatles in 1964 and in his words, "never looked back." In the decades since, he photographed Civil Rights marches, was on the scene when Robert F. Kennedy was assassinated, and covered conflicts in Kosovo, Bosnia, and the Gulf War. Through Jan. 29, 2023, the Addison Gallery of American Art at Phillips Academy in Andover, MA features the exhibition “Harry Benson: Four Stories,” which highlights images from some of Benson’s most memorable assignments.   Read the full Story >>
