Industry News: Stock Photographers Not Being Paid by EyeEm

Photo Archives News reports on “a growing issue concerning contributing stock photographers to photo agency EyeEm not being paid royalties.”  EyeEm owners Talenthouse responded by telling the site that the problems are the result of changes to new accounting and cash management systems. Talenthouse also noted that “capital markets are also severely impacted by global events” that have further impacted its operations. Passings: Eric Bowman, Photographer of Free-Wheeling 70s Culture

Photographer Eric Boman, whose dexterity, inventiveness and charisma laid the foundation for a storied career, died on August 11 at the age of 76, notes Vogue. The cause was pancreatic cancer. “The fair-haired and gregarious photographer not only captured the art, fashion and social scenes in London in the freewheeling ’70s, but was also very much a central figure with fellow creatives during that time, as well as in the decades that followed after he and his longtime partner, Peter Schlesinger, relocated to New York in 1978,” adds WWD.   Read the full Story >>

Spotlight: Remembering Photographer Erich Hartmann at 100

Erich Hartmann, who would have turned 100 on July 29, was “a quintessentially 20th-century photographer, both in the story of how he came to be an image maker, and in his pioneering of emerging practices,” notes Magnum.  Born into a Jewish household in Munich, he escaped to the U.S. only to return to Europe five years later as an American soldier.
