A lucky family got the portrait of a lifetime when a shooting star appeared just as photographer Wil Cheung was taking a picture of the group in the UK's Northumberland National Park, notes My Modern Met. Cheung was leading a group of stargazers through the park and had already shot portraits of 25 other guests when the Swan family stepped up for their turn. Industry News: Getty Images Launches First Model Release That Covers AI and Biometrics

Getty Images has announced what it says is the industry’s first model release that reflects advancements in data privacy and security as well as covering artificial intelligence, machine learning, and biometric data security. Called the Enhanced Model Release form, it provides clarity as to how data can be tracked and handled to protect the personal and biometric data captured by its content creators, according to the company. Getty will use the release as part of its Getty Images and iStock websites and hopes it will be widely adopted and signed by models who feature in new commercial images on either site, notes PetaPixel.   Read the full Story >>

Honor Roll: World Press Photo Regional Winners Announced

World Press Photo has announced the winners of its 2022 regional competitions—24 photographers from 23 countries providing what the organization calls “a variety of perspectives from all corners of the globe.” As we’ve previously noted, World Press Photo switched to a regional model for this year’s competition to correct an imbalance in where entries came from.  Regional winners of the contest receive a €1,000 prize. In Focus: Russian Journalist Oksana Baulina Killed in Kyiv Shelling

A Russian journalist has died after coming under Russian shelling in Kyiv, reports CNN.  Oksana Baulina, working for the independent news site The Insider, was filming the shelling destruction in the capital's Podilskyi District by Russian troops when she came under rocket fire. Another civilian died with her, The Insider's statement said. Two people accompanying her were also wounded and hospitalized. Baulina was a "journalist with a phenomenal sense of moral clarity," former colleague Alexey Kovalyov said in a Twitter post.   Read the full Story >>
