In 1924, Columbia Pictures adopted a logo featuring a heroine with a torch raised high, like Lady Liberty. Her classical clothing was adorned with American flag drapery for a mid-century update. By the 1990s the company, in search of a more modern logo, turned to artist Michael Deas, whose paintings have adorned magazine covers, U.S. postage stamps, and bestselling books. Honor Rolling: Marine Conservation Photo Prize Winner

An aerial photograph of two boats, with nets cast wide fishing for anchovies in the waters of Vietnam, has won the Save Our Seas Foundation Marine Conservation category of the Underwater Photographer of the Year 2022 award, notes CNN. The image by 34-year-old Vietnamese engineer Thien Nguyen Ngoc serves as "a stark visual reminder of man's reach and control over the surrounding habitat and its devastating effect on the natural balance," according to the award's judge, Peter Rowlands.   Read the full Story >>
