Affordable Art Fair through Sunday, September 16-20

Affordable Art Fair New York Fall returns to the Starrett Lehigh Building in Chelsea. The Fall 2025 edition features presentations by over 90 local, national, and international galleries and will host some can’t-miss programming. Dedicated to presenting affordable art that everyone can discover and collect, Affordable Art Fair NYC is excited to showcase a collection of works priced under $1,000. Special: Fashion Institute of Technology Collectors Studio offers visitors the chance to discover which arts movement they related bes to thanks to graduate students from the FIT Art Market Studies program. Visitors will take a brief quiz to receive a small fair navigation tool kit to help find their taste around the Fair.

September 23-28: Spring Break Art Show 

The SPRING/BREAK Art Show remains the city’s most resolutely independent, delightfully zany antidote to the traditional white-cube fair. Rather than allowing commercial galleries to simply purchase standard booths, founders Andrew Gori and Ambre Kelly hand the reins to independent curators. The result is a sprawling, immersive landscape of thematic, room-sized installations that aggressively reject the buttoned-up norms of the art market. To that point, the fair repurposes abandoned or underused historical spaces—such as former office buildings, post offices, and schoolhouses—into immersive, room-by-room installations.

This year, the fair is taking over  the former CBS News offices located in Hell's Kitchen. Curators will be staging their immersive installations directly inside the raw, corporate architecture and old recording studios left behind by the media network

What to look forward to this year:

Over 100 Curatorial Rooms: Independent visions reign supreme. You will encounter hyper-specific environments, like Ingrid Dinter's "LOST N' FOUND" room exploring themes of reclamation, and Larissa Reick's curated solo presentation "Look Again", which plays directly into the deceptive theme.

The Artist Spotlight Showcase: A dedicated enclave for wholly unrepresented contemporary artists who successfully navigated the blind open call. It is typically the most raw, electric segment of the show, free from any remaining gallery filters. 

Tactile and Layered Mediums: Previews indicate a strong showing of intricately layered materials.

Looking Ahead: Printed Matter’s 50^th Anniversary NY Art Book Fair (NYABF)

For anyone who lives for the tactile joy of the printed page—where ink, paper texture, and boundary-pushing concepts collide—the NY Art Book Fair (NYABF) is the ultimate annual pilgrimage—now in its 50^th year.  Above: Photo by Rebecca Sahn

Organized by the indefatigable team at Printed Matter, Inc., this multi-day event stands as the world's premier gathering for artists' books, underground zines, and radical independent publishing. It is less of a traditional trade show and more of a high-energy, global convergence of creative minds who refuse to let print die. 

Initiated in 2006, the NY Art Book Fair is an event where artists’ book publishers distribute their work, connect with broad audiences, and nurture new and longstanding relationships, with many artists responding directly to today’s challenging political and social landscape. NYABF also offers a discursive platform for engagement in the field of artists’ book publishing through book launches, lectures, exhibitions, discussions, performances, and workshops. Signature programs such as the discussion series, The Classroom, and music programming on The Stage, will be accompanied by more recent programmatic features like the Reading Room–this year a collaboration with the African Art Book Fair–and expanded presentations of books, prints, and ephemera in our Project Spaces.

NYABF 2026 will feature over 310 exhibitors, including interdisciplinary artistic practices, collectives, small presses, self-publishing artists, rare book dealers, institutions, and distributors.

September 21–27, The 35th Edition of Salon Zürcher: 100 Women of Spirit +

This year Salon Zürcher, a satellite fair of The Armory Show, invites a distinguished group of 11 women artists to show their work in the Zürcher Gallery space in the East Village. As a continuation of the project 11 Women of Spirit, which had 9 editions from 2020-2024, 100 Women of Spirit + involves the presence of the 11 participating artists. Femmes d’esprit was an 18th-century French term that referred to independently-minded female painters, writers, and intellectuals, routinely under-recognized by their male contemporaries and publics.

Salon Zürcher offers collectors an intimate alternative to the large-scale, superstore style art fairs. Here, visitors have the rare chance to speak directly with the participating artists.
