What is ICON7 The Illustration Conference? In random order, according to friends who have attended, it is:

A movable feast of talks, meetups, and fun stuff centered on illustration that happens every other year in a different location. I guess you could call it an arty rave party.

A trip to the bountiful, to catch up with old friends and make some new ones in the good-eats town of Providence, RI.

A window on the world of illustration, as drawn and spoken by the cream of the crop.

A place like no other where you can experiment with new media and get your hands dirty all in the same day.

A live social network, where you can chat with that illustrator or art director you’ve always wanted to meet.

ICON's programming promises to educate, inform, and inspire, but it is the rare energy of a shared experience that will launch countless creative projects and life-long connections. The seating accommodates 500 illustrators, designers and image makers who will come together for a jam-packed weekend with imaginative and inspirational speakers from many different creative fields. And there’s still time to register, here.

You can check the Twitter feed to find out cool things, like getting a $20 bus ride from New York; the weather forceast for Providence next week; what Chris Buzelli plans to wear to the Moth Ball; and don’t forget: your expenses are [ta-dah!] tax deductible.

Check out the complete lineup of speakers and workshops. Registration closes Saturday, midnight. ICON7 The Illustration Conference, June 13-16, Providence, RI. Above: Detail of art by Chris Buzelli for ICON7, Drawn Together.

Editor’s note: DART is a media sponsor and a big fan of ICON7 The Illustration Conference. I’m still schlepping my MacBook in the beautiful souvenir bag from ICON5, with the logo by Seymour Chwast and the cheery drawing by Edel Rodriguez. --Peggy
