Si Dios Quiere or God Willing is a long-term project that began in 2013 which portrays the lives of families in the Dominican Republic, as well as Dominican immigrants living in the United States. The work is shaped around family, history and memory. My upbringing as a child spending summers in the Dominican Republic inspired me to photograph my motherland as well as my community in the Heights. I am depicting the tight-knit communities and cultures found in both of these places, illustrating a sense of need, desire and hunger for life.
