With drones and other technological advances, aerial photography has never more accessible, or popular, as it is today. But at DP Review, photographer Erez Marom looks into the impact aerial photography has on wildlife. “A photographer shouldn't shoot wildlife from the air if doing so causes any serious distress or harm to the animals. This means, for example, that if a bear is hunting, disturbing it with a buzzing drone and ruining the chase – and potentially depriving it of its prey – is wrong and shouldn't be done,” Marom writes. “As we enter the AI era, human collective thought patterns, ideological structures, and the very essence of individual existence and dignity are undeniably under threat.” So notes the artist Ai Weiwei in an essay at Art in America, drawn from the book On Censorship by Ai Weiwei, to be released in March from Thames & Hudson. “Artificial intelligence struggles to function fairly, because its judgment, based solely on existing data, is inherently limited. What role will AI play in Hollywood? On one hand Futurism reports that the AMC theater chain has pulled an AI-generated short film to be shown at its US locations, in the latest example of the mounting resistance to AI’s encroachment on the arts. Meanwhile, according to Variety, Netflix has bought InterPositive, a start-up founded by Ben Affleck that makes AI-powered tools for filmmakers. Netflix said it saw Affleck’s InterPositive as providing a unique set of AI tools that “keeps filmmakers at the center of the process.” Read the full Story >>

After recently announcing the finalists of the 2026 Sony World Photography Awards Open competition, the World Photography Organization has revealed the shortlist for the competition’s 10 Professional categories, ranging from Documentary Projects to Landscape and Portraiture. Among the finalists in the Sports category: Delfina Pignatiello’s exquisitely lit underwater shot of swimmers, from a series called “Nymph.” Photographers from more than 200 countries and territories submitted over 430,000 images for this year’s Professional contest.
