Media Watch: Reuters Appoints Eric Baradat as Global Director of Photography

Reuters has appointed Éric Baradat as its new Global Director of Photography, based in London. A veteran photojournalist, Baradat has spent more than three decades at Agence France-Presse and overseen coverage of major global events and award-winning imagery. “Under Éric’s direction, AFP produced some of the most recognizable images of recent decades, including work in Syria and Afghanistan that won the agency its first Pulitzer Prizes for photography,” noted Reuters Deputy Global Managing Editor of World News Tom Platt in a statement. Honor Roll: Marilyn Minter Wins Anderson Ranch's International Artist Award

Marilyn Minter, known for her feminist practice blending painting and photography, has won this year’s International Artist Award from the Anderson Ranch Arts Center. Minter will be honored at the annual Ranch Gala, part of the Ranch’s annual Ranch Week series in July, notes Art News. Minter is the 28th recipient of the award, which has been given out annually since 1997. Exhibitions: Lillian Bassman: Bazaar and Beyond

“Can fashion photography be dangerous? Lillian Bassman was told as much when, in 1950, she started making photographs so abstract that you could barely see the clothes.
