English rock band Sleep Token has previously taken a hard line on copyright issues, but now, notes Louder Sound, the group is being accused of copyright infringement by a photographer who claims a picture she took was used on a piece of the band's merch without her permission. The photographer, Laura Ioana, says a photo she took of the band's frontman Vessel at the 2023 Copenhell Festival in Denmark was used on a collectible coin sold by the band in 2024. New York magazine was preparing a cover photo of incoming New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani with the members of his inner circle, and then something happened. The image was shot by the celebrity portrait photographer Mark Seliger on Dec. 17. But the next day, Catherine Almonte Da Costa — a senior Mamdani adviser — resigned amid an uproar over antisemitic statements she had posted on social media years earlier. China is seeing a museum boom, after learning some hard lessons from the missteps of its first museum surge a decade ago.“In [China’s] headlong pursuit of growth and modernity, officials around the country had funded grand new museums,” notes The Economist. “Many sat empty. Today, China is again in the grips of a museum boom.
