The documentary questioning who really took the famous “Napalm Girl" photo during the Vietnam War is now streaming on Netflix, and PetaPixel looks at a number of the claims made by the filmmakers. As PPD has previously noted, the controversial documentary, The Stringer: The Man Who Took the Photo, makes that case that Associated Press photographer Nick Ut, long credited with taking the famous image, did not do so. The AP conducted its own investigation and concluded there was no reason to change the image's credit line. The film also claims that legendary AP photographer Horst Faas regularly put his credit on other peoples’ images, notes PP.

Landscapes may be stunning, but “almost any photograph is improved by having people in it,” notes Time magazine by way of introducing its top 100 photos of 2025. “The moments photojournalists document tend to be most visible on faces: the panic of a fallen runner about to be spiked, the anguish in an immigrant in a headlock, a smiling Buddha toppled in a quake,” adds the magazine. Among the images selected: photographer Carol Guzy’s shot of a woman and her child weeping on a NYC street after her husband was detained by ICE agents on Aug. 20.

Nearly three-quarters of Americans watch news videos online and most of them (61%) use social media or YouTube to do so. Over the past year, a number of news publishers began posting vertical video on social media, saw high engagement there, and decided to bring that engagement to their own sites. Now, notes Nieman Lab, vertical video is here to stay. The Economist, Newsday, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and CNN all launched dedicated tabs for video viewing in their apps.
