As collector Victor Gulotta looked through the group of old photographs he had recently purchased, he felt a surge of excitement on viewing one of the images. It was a circa-1860s carte-de-visite photograph of the American essayist Ralph Waldo Emerson, taken from an original daguerreotype, circa 1848. The image is believed to be the second or third earliest known photograph of America’s most famous Transcendentalist, notes The Concord Bridge of Concord, Massachusetts, which reports that Gulotta later reached out to the Concord Free Public Library. A number of the music industry’s leading ladies and gentlemen were featured on the cover of Billboard magazine in 2025, from Tems (photographed by Zoe McConnell) to Jamaica’s King of Dancehall, Vybz Kartel, who appeared on the year’s first digital cover. Several of the 2025’s "buzziest breakthroughs" were also captured by Billboard, including rising pop star Aubrey Hobert, ambient artist Flawed Mangoes, “Burning Blue” singer Mariah The Scientist, country powerhouse Riley Green and Texas rapper BigXThaPlug, notes the magazine. EyeEm, the international stock photography community and marketplace, is shutting down on January 16, 2026, reports PetaPixel. Photographers on the platform can transfer their content to Freepik if they want, but those who opt not to will see their images removed from both EyeEm and partner agencies like Getty Images. In 2022, EyeEm was accused of not paying royalties to photographers, which the company blamed on “global events.” There was speculation at that time that the platform would shut down.
