Trending: Imgur Blocks Access to UK Users After Regulator Warned of Fine

Image-hosting platform Imgur has blocked people in the UK from accessing its content after regulator warned of fine, notes the BBC. UK users trying to access Imgur on Tuesday were met with an error message saying "content not available in your region.” Imgur content shared on other websites was also no longer showing. The UK's data watchdog, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), said it recently notified the platform's parent company, MediaLab AI, of plans to fine Imgur after probing its approach to age checks and use of children's personal data.   Read the full Story >>

Follow-Up: Judge Approves $1.5 Billion Anthropic Settlement

We noted  recently that a federal judge had held up a proposed settlement in a copyright case involving AI company Anthropic over concerns about how it would be implemented. Now Associated Press reports that U.S. District Judge William Alsup has approved the whopping $1.5 billion settlement between Anthropic and authors who allege nearly half a million books had been illegally pirated to train chatbots. “This is a fair settlement,” Alsup said, though he added that distributing it to all parties will be “complicated.”    Read the full Story >>
