Social Media News: OpenAI Plans to Launch a TikTok-Like App for AI-Generated Content

Even as President Trump says he is closing in on a deal to keep TikTok operating in the US (details to be revealed later), Wired reports that OpenAI is preparing to launch a social media app “closely resembling” TikTok—except that it’s for AI-generated content. Users won’t  be able to upload their own photos or videos from their own camera roll — instead, adds Mashable, they’ll have to use OpenAI’s Sora 2 AI video generator to create clips that are 10 seconds or shorter, copyright allowing.   Read the full Story >>

Exhibitions: Sergio Larrain's 'Wanderings" at ICP

Starting on Oct. 16 and running through Jan. 12, 2026, the International Center of Photography in New York presents the exhibition “Sergio Larrain: Wanderings,” which the ICP calls “a new perspective on Larrain’s inventive and humanist photography that for decades has remained little seen and seldom exhibited.” The acclaimed Chilean photographer joined Magnum in 1959 His  notable series include “Vagabond Children” (1957), “London” (1959-59) and "Valparaiso” (1952–62).    Read the full Story >>

Trending: French Photojournalist Killed by Drone in Ukraine

Antoni Lallican, a Paris-based photojournalist, was killed by a Russian drone strike in Ukraine's eastern Donbas region on Friday morning, reports France 24.  Lallican, 38, was on assignment for the Hans Lucas photo agency when he was killed, according to the agency. The attack also injured a Ukrainian journalist, Heorgiy Ivanchenko, according to the International and European Federations of Journalists (IFJ-EFJ), which added that both journalists were wearing bulletproof vests marked “Press,” notes CNN. “Currently, the main threat to journalists, as well as to all civilians, is Russian drones hunting people,” noted Sergiy Tomilenko, president of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU).   Read the full Story >>
