Senate Republicans squeaked their sweeping tax and health policy bill over the finish line on Tuesday by a narrow margin. But in a 99-1 vote, the Senate voted overwhelmingly to strike an amendment to the Republican economic policy package that would have imposed a decade-long moratorium on attempts to regulate A.I. by the states. The vote “dealt a major blow to the tech industry on the verge of a policy victory,” notes The New York Times. The Wellcome Photography Prize competition celebrating visual storytelling focused on global health, science, and human experience has announced the 25 finalists in its 2025 competition.
