Flickr and Flickr owner SmugMug have announced a new grant with the Black Women Photographers collective to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the organization. The grant includes $5,000 for the recipient as well as a two-year Flickr Pro membership and a one-year SmugMug Pro membership. “We invite members of Black Women Photographers to showcase their unique perspectives through a single powerful image that captures the essence of the environments and spaces you inhabit,” notes Black Women Photographers.   Read the full Story >>

New York-based photographer Scott Gable recently had an urge for Colombian coffee, thanks to an assignment from The Coffee Quest, a Dutch coffee exporting company that specializes in connecting small coffee producers with international markets while emphasizing sustainable and transparent practices. Nature Watch: Photographer Shocked After Cougar He Tracked for Four Years is Killed by Hunters

Residents of Canmore, Alberta, Canada, are outraged after a female cougar with kittens was shot, after living peacefully alongside them for years, notes Digital Camera World. Wildlife photographer John Marriott, who had been tracking the cougar for four years using trail cameras,  was shocked to see a group of cougar hunters emerging from the bushes recently. Photographers Laurent Kronental and Charly Broyez spent four years documenting La Grande Motte, a remarkable seaside resort on France's Languedoc coast. In 1962, architect Jean Balladur was chosen to design the city from scratch.
